A SUBLIME TRIBUTE.

I woke up this morning to a cover version of Sublime playing on the radio.

It made me forget all the drum loops; synths; bleeps; clicks and kicks that have dominated my world lately and remember just how pure some music is. These guys were the best.

Here it is for you:

Sublime is an American ska punk band from Long Beach, California -- formed in 1986. The band’s original line-up consisted of Bradley Nowell (vocals and guitar), Bud Gaugh (drums and percussion), and Eric Wilson (bass). Nowell died of a heroin overdose in 1996 and Sublime immediately split up.

Sublime have released about eight albums -- including live and acoustic -- but you should check out either Sublime -- Sublime; Sublime -- Greatest Hits; or Sublime -- 40ozĀ  to Freedom.

You can read all about Sublime at their Wikipedia page -- which includes some details of the band’s current (23 October 2009) dispute with Nowell’s executors for using the name “Sublime” with a new lead singer. They say Nowell was the sole owner of the name and that the band is infringing his trademark.

Anyway, here’s my favourite:

And another that might be relevant:

CAMPAS.

EDIT: Just in case you wanted something a little cooler to look at, here’s a picture of Monty rocking Greyscale @ that Steve Aoki concert I was talking about.

Often, a lot of our friends ask us why we don’t post more photos of friends / customers wearing our clothes.

Mostly we don’t have very good reasons for not blogging, apart from the fact that it’s hard to keep on top of all the photos we collect. But often, there are very good reasons for us not showing you such photos.

Such as Bartels – doing us ‘proud’ (or so he thinks).

What I like most about this shot is how truly concerned the guy in the back is – Glastonbury 2009.

There’s also usually a pretty good reason that we don’t post photos of ourselves.

But most times, it just takes a while to get them up. Such as this one I picked up from one of our customers websites a while back.

I’m not sure exactly what it is they do, but there’s some killer photography on their website.

It’s been a bit slow on the uptake around here lately I know. But there’s much news in store, promised.

For now, follow us on Twitter

Z-TRIP playing @ The Forum for $40 – available through MoshTix.

Z-TRIP is one of the best DJs in the world. Hands down.

An actual DJ, not just bangers. Someone who you can tell loves playing tunes – not for the hype – but for the party.

Come along for some classic tunes the classic way. I know where I’d rather be scene seen.

For those that know. You know.

Ps. That link right there ^ is a good link. Z-TRIP – Live in Los Angeles 2003

STONEYROADS.COM

We’re tee’ing (pun intended) some things up with Stoney Roads at the moment.

These dudes are definitely on top when it comes to releasing new tunes.

Here’s just a sample of what they do – think house beats, rolling bass lines, step remixes, baltimore, Diplo, Switch, etc etc. They’ve also got some of the raddest images on the WWW so you can keep both your eyes + your ears in tune.

(Click the image to link through to their blog and download some killer tracks…)

Master Shortie – Bringing It Back (The Knocks Remix)

Ajax – Double Dutch Dance

Obi Blanche – Rock and Roll Lifestyle

Grafton Primary – Records for the Righteous (Hey Now remix)

Infusion – So Soon (King Unique Dub) (RECOMMENDED!)

LCD Soundsystem – Bye Bye Bayou (Ernold Sane Re-Rub) (RECOMMENDED!)

GOOD MUSIC.

That’s what its about.

Amazing.

This is what heaven looks like.

HOME.

This video is amazing.

So well done. Perfectly up to date. And extremely interesting.

Good Copy Bad Copy is a film about the current state of copyright and culture. Not just online culture. But music, film, art, tv, and any or all other creations that people dream up. This is a film about the way the world works. The way in which ideas are distributed, built upon, and subsequently immersed in a new culture. And most importantly – it’s about music.

If you’ve ever downloaded a song. Watched YouTube. Enjoyed a DJ. Loved the remix better than the original. Or gasped over the abilities of your mates iPhone. You should probably watch this movie.

Cameos from: GirlTalk, Danger Mouse, this guy, and a bunch of cool Brazilians.

And as a gift to you all (even those who don’t watch): Dangermouse – The Grey Album.

I love Danger Mouse but I’ve never heard this album before now. What an amazing concept perfectly executed.

In 2004, Dangermouse mixed Jay-Z’s vocals from his Black Album with the music from The Beatles White Album. Initially beginning the experiment as an art project, he subsequently passed some CD’s on to some of his friends, who uploaded them to the internet, and now, well, you can’t stop it – watch the movie.

I won’t actually provide you with a link to the album because I’m sure those of you who want it, will get it. Hell, you might even pay for it.

Get off Facebook people. There’s much more out there.

PRESERVING TIME.
