As we head into the April 16th opening weekend of Exit Through The Gift Shop in New York, San Francisco and LA, Banksy has started to release a series of exclusive videos on the film’s official Youtube channel.

In an extended five minute teaser for the film released today, Banksy for the first time sets up the film’s storyline.

Banksy says in the clip: “The film is the story of what happens when this guy tried to make a documentary about me but he was a lot more interesting than I am, so the film is now kinda about him.” That guy is a French filmmaker named Thierry Guetta.

The film opens in cinemas across the United States beginning April 16th. Not sure when it will be released in Australia – but i’m working on it ;)

“Exit Through the Gift Shop is the story of how an eccentric French shop keeper and amateur film maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy. Billed as ‘the world’s first street art disaster movie’ the film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shephard Fairey, Invader and many of the world’s most infamous graffiti artists at work. “It’s the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. So speaking of people who make music. Indra Dunis and Aaron Coyes are Peaking Lights a duo which actually create weird and wonderful sounds from scratch and transform them into some of the most intriguing and beautiful music i’ve heard.

Aaron Coyes the creator of these recycled hybrid sound machines sums up the world we live in – “I’m picking up on the waste of what consumer culture is just throwing away – its garbage to a lot of people…I’m not trying to just be a consumer – i’m trying to participate in the act of how energy flows”

What have you created lately?

So I just found out that TEDx Sydney is happening at CarriageWorks in May! For those of you who don’t know – TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading.

It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with the annual TED Conference in Long Beach, California, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK, TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Program, the new TEDx community program, this year’s TEDIndia Conference and the annual TED Prize.

The annual conferences in Long Beach and Oxford bring together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).

You can apply to be in the select Live Bay17 Audience for the Sydney event on the TEDx Sydney site. The event will be broadcast over the internet if you can’t make it to CarriageWorks on the day.
